ADU Earmarks AED 21 Mn As Financial Aid & Scholarship
For spring semester 2018, Abu Dhabi University ADU has earmarked AED 10 million to be distributed as financial aid and scholarships. While during fall semester 2017 more than AED 11 million was given out as financial aid and scholarships. Which means the total amount dedicated for financial help of students during 2017-2018 exceeds AED 21 million.
Ali Saeed bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Chairman of ADU’s Executive Board said, “ADU is dedicated to empowering outstanding students and inspiring them to pursue their educational objectives. In line with our mission to qualify and up-skill the UAE’s young generation in a wide variety of fields, our scholarship and financial aid program represents a key pillar of our strategy for academic excellence.”
He further added that the efforts of the university in empowering students are reflected by the commitment to support the comprehensive development in the UAE. He also said that it is a very important national duty to provide equal opportunities for students interested in pursuing higher education and enable them to proactively contribute to society.
The scholarships offered by ADU are divided into five categories, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Scholarship, the Chairman’s Scholarship, the University Scholarship, the Academic Scholarship and the Athletic Scholarship.
Sherif Mousa, Interim Vice Chancellor at ADU said, “A total of 1,530 students have benefited from the AED 10 million allocated to the ADU scholarship and financial aid program for the spring semester 2018. During the fall semester 2017, the University disbursed AED 11,265,453 in financial support to 1,724 students.”
